Bobbin Threads & Pre-Wound Bobbins
The most common bobbin threads are spun poly, cotton wrapped poly, cotton & filament poly. Spun poly and cotton wrapped poly are stronger than cotton. Because of it's strength machine quilters like to use this thread. Cotton bobbin thread gives a stiffer design. Filament poly bobbin thread is lightweight and thin, yet strong. Filament poly gives a soft backing, embroiderer's love this bobbin thread. Prewound Bobbins allow a fast change of bobbins. They can hold more thread than those bobbins you wind yourself. M or L style bobbins? Approximately 60% of home sewing machines use the L style bobbin.
